FAIRBANKS - The Fairbanks North Star Grange No. 10, in cooperation with the America The Beautiful Fund is offering, as a community service project, free seeds to community youth groups.
The grange hopes to provide free seeds to grow fresh nutritious foods and to promote environmental stewardship in the community.
The grange has assorted vegetable, flower, herb, and ornamental seeds, all of which were packaged for sale in 2009. The germination rate is 90-95 percent.
The seeds are available to youth groups such as 4H, Scouts, church clubs, Boys and Girls Clubs, etc., at no cost. Distribution will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Seeds will be selected by a grange member.
